POLARIS Raumflugzeuge GmbH develops innovative transportation systems that redefine access to space for payloads and passengers. We are continuing to expand our team and are looking to fill the position of a Rocket Engine Thermal Analysis Engineer (m/f/d).
Your mission
- Perform thermal design and analysis of rocket engines at system, subsystem, and component level
- Setup 0D/1D simulations for steady state and transient conditions
- Determine thermal loads from the hot gas in the combustion chamber into the injector and the chamber wall
- Design and assess cooling concepts such as regenerative cooling, film cooling, and radiative heat transfer
- Analyze heat transfer in hot gas flows, combustion chambers, nozzles, and cooling structures
- Define thermal boundary conditions, load cases, and thermal margins
- Support engine design by identifying thermal risks and proposing optimization
- Correlate analytical results with test data and derive design updates
- Document models, assumptions, results, and design decisions
- Collaborate closely with design, systems, CFD, test, and manufacturing teams
Your profile
- Degree in Space Engineering, Aerospace Engineering (M.Sc.) or similar
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience
- Strong background in thermal conditions inside of rocket engines
- Profound understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat conduction, heat transfer and radiation
- Profound understanding of cooling channel design
- Proactive thinking, high level of motivation, flexibility, and team-working skills
- Proficiency in both German and English
