POLARIS Raumflugzeuge GmbH develops innovative transportation systems that redefine access to space for payloads and passengers. We are continuing to expand our team and are looking to fill the position of Working Student Propulsion Engineer (m/f/d). 

Your mission

  • Design and development of rocket engine subsystems and components
  • Translation of system requirements into subsystem and component designs
  • Performance of system-level and component-level trade studies
  • Perform analytical results (performance, thermal, structural, fluid)
  • Development and operation of test infrastructure
  • Support of engine integration, assembly, and test campaigns, including anomaly resolution
  • Close collaboration with design, analysis and manufacturing
  • Communication with suppliers on manufacturability, materials, and design requirements

Your profile

  • Student in Space Engineering, Aerospace Engineering (M.Sc.) or similar
  • Understanding of the rocket engine design process and its subsystems
  • Understanding of physics, fluid dynamics, manufacturing processes, rocket engine/propulsion systems
  • Understanding of manufacturing methods of rocket engine components
  • Understanding of development and operation of test stands
  • Proactive thinking, high level of motivation, flexibility, and team-working skills
  • Proficiency in both German and English
  • Knowledge of Creo, Matlab, Ecosimpro, Ansys Fluent & Mechanical 
  • Prior experience with hardware, testing, qualification and certification
  • Work experience in a start-up environment
